Have a Dog Friendly Halloween

Dogs left alone in the dark while the rest of the family is out Trick or Treating are often frightened and confused. They don't want to be inside while everyone else is outside having fun! Instead, consider dressing your dog in a Halloween costume bringing your pet along. Just make sure he's on a leash or lead, is wearing a collar and proper ID, and be sure to take him home if he seems to be too stressed out by the other Trick or Treat'ers.

More Halloween Dog Safety Tips

If you do decide to stay home with your dog on Halloween to hand out candy, consider disabling your doorbell or greating your gouls and ghosts outside instead of letting them ring the bell. Keep a leash handy during Trick or Treat, regardless of if your dog is indoors or outdoors, since your pet may be scared and not act normally. If you chose to decorate your house, make sure to keep any open flames, light cords, or other Halloween decorations out of reach from curious noses.
